Celebrating America

A belated Happy Fourth of July!  I had an American-style BBQ on Sunday (disclaimer: Third of July) on our rooftop, which was a great success. I was able to find an American flag, about 25 people showed up, we got the grill fired up (eventually), it didn’t rain and my potato salad even turned out great! (Or so I assume; there was none left.) Hope those of you in or celebrating American had a good time as well!

I found an American flag at a street market in Central:

I dressed like an opposite American flag (hey, it’s what I had):

My potato salad! (Thanks to Mama D for posting a recipe)

Emily, me and the Navy sailors who we hosted as part of a partnership program in Hong Kong where residents (usually Americans) offer to host a group of sailors who are on port call in Hong Kong for a weekend or few days. We’ve done it a few times. It’s fun! These guys were super nice and even gave us both plaques from their ship with our name as a little thanks!
